Albert was born in 1888 in Leicester and was baptised on 26.8.1888 at St. Peter’s Church. His parents were Alfred Duchemin Carpenter, a bookseller and stationers assistant, and Lizzie (nee Flude). He was one of 17 children –

In 1891 census the family lived at 20 Sutherland St.
In 1901 census they lived at 40 Evington Rd. and Albert is listed as a draper’s office boy.
1908 Lizzie died.
In 1911 census they were at 29 Beaumont Rd. and Albert is listed as a hosiery manufacturer’s ledger clerk.
On 5.6.1915 Albert married Catherine Spencer but there is no record of any children.

Albert became Gunner 8233 in Royal Garrison Artillery and died on 21.12.1916 in Greece. He is buried at Mikra British Cemetery, Kalamaria, Greece and commemorated at St. Peter’s, St. Stephen’s and St. Barnabas’ Churches.
