Albert was born in 1899 in Leicester to Alfred Tart, a boot and shoe hand, and Alice (nee Varden). They had 12 children –

In 1901 census the family lived at 13 Ash St, Leicester and in 1911 census they had moved to 27 Ash St.
Albert became Private 17632 1st Battalion Leicestershire Regiment and went to France on 1.9.1915. He was Killed in Action on 15.9.1916, aged 17, and is on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France (Pier and Face 2C & 3A).
