Alfred was born in 1894 in Leicester to Alfred Fowler, a boot and shoe clicker, and Selina (nee Halford). He was baptised on 11.10.1901 at St. Hilda’s and was one of 7 children (1911 census lists 5 living and 2 dead)-

I have only found 5 of the 7.
In 1901 census the family lived at 36 Thomas St., Leicester.
In 1911 census they were at 45 Elm St. and Alfred was a shoe inker.
Alfred enlisted as Private 17311 Leicestershire Reg. Then became Private 61752 Machine Gun Corps. He was Killed in Action on 22.4.1917 and is on the Basra Memorial, Iraq.
