Alfred was born in Leicester, 1896.

In 1901 he married Sarah in Chelsea.
They had 3 children-
Charles Alfred 1902 Kensington
Ernest Leonard 1904 Farnborough
Florence May 1907 Windsor

Sarah died between 1907-1910.

In 1910 Alfred married his second wife, Mary Frances Brown in Tonbridge.
They had 1 child –
Stella L 1911 Farnham

In 1811 census the family lived at 17 Queens Road South, Farnborough, Hants. and Alfred was a domestic valet.

Alfred served as Private 1169 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards and was Killed in Action on 6.9.1914. He is buried at Mortreuil-Aux-Lions British Cemetery, France.
