Archibald was born in 1882 in Leicester to Thomas Allen Kerr, a shoehand and Fanny (nee Pallett). They had 13 children-

The family lost 9 children at young ages.

In 1891 census the family lived at 3 Potters Cottages, Sherrard Rd. In 1900 Archibald joined the army aged 18.
In 1901 census the family lived at 180-182 Victoria Rd. East and Thomas was a groom.
In 1911 census they were at 88 Morton Rd. Only 3 people are listed-Fanny a charwoman

On 19.10.1912 Archibald married Gertrude Roberts and they had a son Harry.

Archibald was Private 5889 Kerr 2nd Battalion Leicestershire Regiment.
On 28.5.1915 Archibald was discharged from the army after 18 years service due to wounds received in battle.
He Died of Wounds in 1918 in Leicester aged 35.
