Archibald was born in 1892 in Leicester to John Veary, a decorator and house painter and Winifred (nee Ray).

In 1901 census the family lived at 80 Maynard Road.
In 1911 they lived at 200 Melbourne Road and Archibald worked as a railway clerk.
Archibald became Corporal 54/245512 Army Service Corps and Died in Egypt on 17.10.1918. He is buried at Beirut War Cemetery.
