Arthur joined the army on 22.10.1915 from 32 Preston Street, Leicester leaving his job as a fish salesman. He became Private 22203 11th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment and Died of Wounds on 7.6.1917.
On his attestation it says he is 21 years old ( born 1894) however, CWGC say he died in 1917 aged 19 (born 1898).
Arthur’s given name was George Arthur known as Arthur as his father was also called George.
Arthur was born in Leicester to George, a fishmongers assistant and Mary Ann (nee Spencer). They had 3 children-

In1901 census the family lived at 12 Forrest Road.
In 1911 census the lived at 32 Preston Street and Arthur, aged 13, was working as a core maker at the iron foundry.
Arthur is buried at Noeux-Les-Mines Communal Cemetery (I.T.23).
