Percy was born in 1894 in Cambridge to John James Sherman, a manufacturers clerk and Elizabeth.

In 1901 census the family lived at 21 Fleetwood Rd.
In 1911 they were at 155 Noble St. and Percy was a mechanic.
Percy enlisted from 50 Matlock Street and became Private 200499 1/4th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment and Died of Wounds on 21.4.1917. He is buried in Bethune Town Cemetery, Calais, France.
