Cyril was born in 1895 in Leicester to George Wain Murphy, a painter, and Alice (nee Seville).

They had 3 children-

In 1901 census the family lived at 19 Waring St., Leicester but father is not at home.
In 1911 census they are at 220 Charnwood St. and Cyril is an apprentice printer.

Cyril became Private 1935 Leicestershire Yeomanry and was Killed in Action, aged 20, on 13.5.1915. He is on the Ypres Memorial (Menin Gate), Belgium.
