About
Edgar Henry
Vann

Edgar was born in 1888 in Blaby to Henry Vann, a labourer, and his wife Emma.
They had 7 children That I know of-
Ernest H 1881
Mahala Jane 1883
Caroline Elizabeth 1884
Wallace Walter 1886
Edgar Henry 1888
Annie Elizabeth 1890
Leonard William 1892

1891 census the family lived at Milligan Rd. Leicester.
1901 census they had moved to Cypress Rd. but Emma had died. 1911 census Edgar, aged 23, was a postman lodging at 92 Flax Rd. with his married sister, Caroline. There is no1911 census for his father so I think the family had split after the death of their mother.

Edgar became Private 203877 2/4 Battalion Leicestershire Regiment. He Died of Wounds on 26.3.1918 and is buried at Etaples Military Cemetery, Pas De Calais, France (Grave Xxxi.J.13a). He is also commemorated at St. Stephens Church, Leicester.
His next of kin was his married sister Mrs Mahala Braker of 166 Mount Rd, Leicester.
