Edward was born in 1896 in Leicester to Alfred Calvert, a boot and shoe clicker, and Elizabeth (nee Dawkins). He was one of 4 children Ethel May 1892

In 1901 census the family lived at 19 Mount Rd., Leicester and in 1911 census they were at the same address and Edward was a printers apprentice.
He became Private 241925 1st Battalion King’s Own Scottish Boarderers and was Killed in Action on 11.4.1918 aged 22.
He is on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium.
