Edward was born in 1898 in Leicester to Charles Moore, a builders labourer, and Elizabeth Ann Alma (nee Mann), a tailoress.
He was one of 11 children –

In 1901 census the family lived at 42 Asfordby St., Leicester and in 1911 census they were at 96 Wood Hill.
Edward became Private 16217 6th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment and went to France on 29.7.1915. He was Killed in Action On 17.7.1916 and is commemorated on Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
