Elijah was born in 1887 in Leicester and baptised on 31.10.1887 at St. Margaret’s Church. His parents were Richard Williams, a shoe finisher and Elizabeth (nee Moore).

In 1891 census the family lived at Maxfield Street, Leicester.
In 1901 census they lived at 34 Thomas Street and Elijah was a shoe feeder.
In 1909 Elijah married Nellie Collett and they had a daughter, Doris, in 1910.
In 1911 census the Williams family lived at 28 Vulcan Road. Elijah and his family lived at 48 Laxton Street and Elijah was a shoehand machinist.
Elijah became Driver 38153 in Royal Field Artillery. He died, aged 28, at 48 Laxton Street on 25.6.1916 of wounds received on 6.1.1916. He was buried at Gilroes Cemetery on 29.6.1916 plot RR 335 c12716. He is also remembered on the St. Peter’s Church Memorial.
