Frank was born in 1891 in Leicester to Alfred Martin, a framework knitter, and Elizabeth Ann (nee Facer).

In 1901 census the family lived at 16 Dunton St. Leicester and in 1911census they were at the same address where Frank was listed as an iron moulder.
Frank enlisted as 13142 6th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment and became a Corporal. He went to France on 29.7.1915 and Died of Wounds on 22.3.1918 aged 26. He is buried at Roye New British Cemetery, France and also commemorated at St. Peter’s Church Leicester.
