Fred Gustavus was born in 1885 in Leicester and baptised on 15.2.1985 at Christchurch. His parents were Fred Tunnicliffe, a tailor and Eliza (nee Hibbard).

In 1891 census the family lived at 32 Midland Street, Leicester.
In 1901 census they lived at 30/32 Midland Street. Number 30 was a shop. Fred junior was also a tailor.
1.9.1910 Fred married Marian Grace Field at St Luke’s Church. They had 1 son, Kenneth F 1914.
In 1911 the family were at the same address but Fred and his family lived at 59 Beaumont Road.
Fred enlisted aged 29 leaving his job as a tailor. He became Sergeant C/851, C company, 16th Battalion King’s Royal Rifle Corps. He was Killed in Action on 23.4.1917, aged 32, and is on the Arras Memorial, Bay7.
At the time of his death his wife was living at 17 Baslow Rd, Leicester.
