Fred was born in Leicester in 1882 to Richard Wilson, a shoe finisher, and Mary Ann (nee Dunkley).

In 1891 census the family lived at 39 Francis Street.
In 1901 census they were at 142 Knighton Fields Rd. East and Fred was a shoe rubber down.
In 1911 census the Wilson family were at 28 Shakespeare St. but Fred was living in a boarding house-The Crowns Hotel, Loseby Lane and was working at the boot and shoe factory.
On 7.6.1915 Fred married Sarah Ann Lakin- they had no children.
He is buried at Regina Trench Cemetery, Grandcourt, France.
