George was born in 1878 in Leicester to William Bryan, a labourer, and Annie (nee Sims). They had 4 children –

In 1881 the family lived at 164 Gresham St., Leicester.
In 1885, when George was 7, his father died and in 1991 census his widowed mother and her children were at 174 Gresham St.
Later in 1891 his mother married her second husband, Joseph William Wilson, a maltster, and they had a daughter, Alice Ada, in 1893.
The 1901 census shows the family at 155 Gresham St. and George is working as a shoe laster.
In 1907 George married Margaret Ann Smith and they had a son, Edwin in 1910.
The 1911 census shows George at 127 Sherard Rd. working as a brewers labourer.
He enlisted on 30.10.1915, aged 37, from 72 Mount Rd. and had been working as a brewers cellarman. He became Private 22340 8th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment and was Killed in Action on 22.3.1918 aged 40. He is on Pozieres Memorial, France.
