Known as Herbert he was born in 1882 in Bristol. His parents were Herbert Dobney, a shoe clicker and Clara (nee Hazell) and they had 5 children-

1884 Clara died, aged 30, maybe as a result of childbirth as Harry was born in 1884 and died a few months later.
In 1891 census Herbert senior was a widower living at 26 Spencer
Street, Leicester.
1893 Herbert married his 2nd wife Elizabeth Cooke in Leicester.
In 1901 census they lived at 2 Yard 23 Preston Street and Herbert junior was a shoe clicker.
1908 Herbert junior married Ethel May Cayless and had 1 daughter in 1909.
In 1911 census the family lived at 2 Carlton Place, Frank Street. Herbert and Ethel lived at 10 Wood Hill and he was a mechanic machine tool fitter.
Herbert was Private 8536 1st Battalion Notts. And Derby Regiment. He had served 8 years in India . He was Killed in Action on 9.5.1915, aged 33, and is on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Comines-Warneton, Hainaut, Belgium.
