George was born in 1896 in Loughborough, Leicestershire to John Bateman Morley, a coachman at Belvoir Castle and Alice (nee Coppen).

In 1901 census the family lived at Redmile, Leicestershire – the houses near the church.
In 1911 they hadn’t moved.
George enlisted in 1914 and had previously been a motor body maker. He became Lance Corporal 12960 8th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment. He was Killed In Action on 15.7.1916 and is on the Thiepval Memorial.

In the newspapers he is reported missing and any information should be sent to Mrs Roberts 48 Beaumont Road, Leicester. I do not know why this is the case, I have no idea who Mrs Roberts is.
