George was born in 1891 in Leicester to George Rainer, a bricklayers labourer and Rebecca (nee Mawby).

In 1901 census the family lived at 73 Cork Street, Leicester.
In 1911 census they lived at 17 East Park Road with the maternal Grandmother. George junior was a shoe hand.
3.8.1914 George married Gertrude Rose Neale in Leicester and they had 1 daughter, Gwendoline F in 1915.
George became Private 24216, 25th Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment and was Killed in Action on 26.9.1917. He is on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
