George was born in 1887 in Kingswood, Gloucestershire to George Tratt, a shoe rivetter and Elizabeth (nee Parker).

In 1891 the family lived at Margate VIilas, Newfoundpool. In 1901 they lived at 27 Thomas St., Leicester.
In 1911 census George was in the army and his family were living at 42 Farringdon St and George senior was a gardener.
George had served for 7 1/2 years in the army and been in India. Uring the war he was Private 8204 2nd Battalion Leicestershire Regiment.
He Died of Wounds on 22.12.1914, aged 27, and is buried at Bologne Eastern Cemetery (111.B.71).
