George was born on 18.2.1894 in Leicester and was baptised on 17.12.1905 at St. Matthew’s Church. His parents were Joshua Thomas Wright, a waterworks labourer, and Lucy Ann (nee Austin).

In 1901 census the family were living at 53 Farnham Street with Grandmother.
1910 Joshua Wright died aged 42.
In 1911 census they were still at 53 Farnham Street and George was a LNWR van guard.
1915 Lucy Ann remarried a John Wardle.
George became Private 9975 6th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment. He was Killed In Action on 14.7.1916 and is on the Thiepval Memorial (pier and face 2C&3A).
