Son of William and Edith Holyoake.

Sergeant Holyoake was a Wireless Opertaor and one of the crew of Hudson AE611 that took off from RAF Aldergrove at 05:15 hours on the 20th March 1941. The aircraft climbed too steeply, stalled and crashed. All four crew members were killed. Sergeant Holyoake is buried in Welford Road Cemetery, Leicester, Sec. E. Cons. Grave 1141. 206 Squadron was part of Coastal Command flying reconnaissance missons over the Atlantic.
