Jack was born in 1897 in Leicester and baptised on 4.9.1899 at St. Barnabas Church, Leicester. He was the son of Sidney Herbert Burbeck, a fitters labourer, and Harriet (nee Ball) and was one of 14 children-

In 1901 census the family lived at 16 Overton Rd., Leicester and in 1911 census they were at 283 Charnwood St.

Jack enlisted from 80 Maynard Rd. in the Bedfordshire Regiment then became Private 201157 in the Essex Regiment.
He was Killed in Action on 27.3.1917, aged 19, and is on the Jerusalem Memorial, Israel (Part 1 A-L Panels32-38).

Jack had a father and 2 brothers also serving.
His photograph is in Illustrated Chronicle 4.8.1917.
