John was born in 1878 in Leicester but I can find no further information about him before his marriage.
In 1897 he married Leonora Mary Bishop and they had 2 children Frederick William 1901-1908

In 1901 census Leonora and Frederick were living at 32 Noel Street but John is not listed. He may have been working away.
In 1911 census the family are at 83 Wilberforce Road and John was a shoe clicker.
John enlisted from 48 Checketts Road and became Private 20388 2nd Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment. He was Killed in Action on 6.4.1916, aged 38, and is on the Basra Memorial, Iraq.
