Joseph Greaves

Joseph was born in 1889 in Leicester to James Greaves, a marble caster, and Eliza Jane (nee Beason).
They had 8 children –
James Thomas 1874
Mary Ann 1877
James George 1879
Eliza Jane 1880
Joseph 1882 all in Birmingham
Charles 1884
William Albert 1886
Joseph 1889 all in Leicester

In 1891 census the family lived at 70 Great Holme St., Leicester. 1894 James died, aged 41, leaving Eliza with a family to support.
In 1901 census the family lived at 92 Livingstone St. and Eliza was a tailoress.
There is no 1911 census for the family.

Joseph became Corporal 608365 Royal Horse Artillery and was Killed in Action on 24.10.1917. He is buried at Hospital Farm Cemetery, Belgium.
