Joseph Charles Griffin

Joseph was born in 1887 in Thurmaston. His father, Charles Griffin, a brick labourer,married Lucy Busby and had 6 children –

Lucy died, aged 35, in 1884 and later that year Charles married his second wife Elizabeth Hames. They went on to have 7 children-

In 1891 census the family lived at Havelock Cottages, Thurmaston. In 1901 census they lived at 79 Morton Road, Leicester.
1908 Elizabeth died.
I can find no 1911 census for Joseph but in 1914 he married Gladys Victoria Elliot and they had 1 son, Reginald, in 1916.

Joseph enlisted as Private 4638116th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment and then became Private 16983 in the Labour Corps. He Died of accidental wounds on 27.7.1918 and is buried at Brookwood Military Cemetery, Surrey.
