Leonard was born in Cardiff in 1897.
In 1901 census he was living with his grandparents at 13 West Street, Rochdale.
In 1911 census he is still with his grandparents and also his older sister, Florence. They lived at 89 Grove Road, Leicester and Leonard worked as an electrician.
Leonard enlisted as Private 3031 Notts and Derby Regiment then became Private 30167 7th Battalion Wiltshire Regiment. He Died of Wounds on 4.11.1918, aged 21, and is on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial, France (panel 9).
At the time of his death his home address was given as Wainflete, Freeman Road North, Leicester.
