Percy was born on 13.12.1876 in Droitwich, Worcestershire to Joseph Yeates, a boot and shoe maker, and Louisa (nee Bayliss).

In 1881 census the family lived in Broad Lane, Elmbridge, Droitwich. In 1891 census they lived at 192 Derby Street, Burton.
In 1901 census they were at the same address and Percy was a railway clerk.
In 1902 Louisa died and on 12.11.1902 Percy married Alice Maud
Pannell in Burton. They had 5 children-Wilfred Charles 1903

In 1911 census Joseph was listed as a widower, aged 79, living at 81 Derby Street, Burton with his married daughter Susan.
Percy and his family were living at 80 Dixon Street, Lincoln and he was an engineers clerk.

Percy enlisted, aged 38, from 30 Humberstone Road, Leicester leaving his job as a machine hand. He joined as Private 23802 Leicestershire Regiment and became Lance Corporal 164799 Labour Corp. and Durham Light Infantry. He died on 4.2.1918, aged 41, in Leicester and is buried at Welford Road Cemetery. His name is on the memorial board for 485th Home Service Employment Company.
