Samuel was born c.1881 in Leicester but I cannot be sure of his family details. He was educated at Leicester Board School and then served with the Royal Scots. He left the army and became a warehouseman.
On 24.6.1911 he married Annie Laws Braden and went on to have 2 children-
Hilda Mary 26.5.1912
David Braden 15.4.1914
Samuel re-enlisted at the outbreak of war as Private 15408 Leicestershire Regiment then became Private 16060 1st Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment.
He served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders and was Killed in Action in the Battle of Loos on 25.9.1915. He is on the Loos Memorial, Pas De Calais, Leicester.
His family were living at 27 Bruin St., Leicester .
