Thomas was born in 1891 in Seagrave, Leicestershire. His parents were Joseph Sharp, a concrete slab labourer and Cordelia Lucy (nee Walton).

In 1901 census the family lived in Swan Street, Seagrave.
In 1911 census the family were still in Seagrave but Thomas was a servant (cowman) on the farm of Thomas Barnett in Belton.
On 13.10 1914 Thomas married Bertha Lilian (nee Warden) and they had a daughter in 1916 named Annie.
Thomas enlisted in 1915, aged 23, from 84 Rolleston Street, Leicester and worked previously as a gardener. He became Private 27609 6th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment and. He was Killed in Action on 3.5.1917 and is on the Arras Memorial, Calais, France, the Seagrave Memorial and All Saints Church, Seagrave Memorial.
At the time of his death his wife lived at 63 St. Saviours Road, Leicester. She remarried in 1923 and became Bertha Gill.
