In 1911 census the family lived at 2 Wood Hill, Leicester.
William left his job as a leather manufacturer’s clerk to join the army and became Private 204207 2/4 Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment. He was Killed in Action, aged 33, on 29.3.1918 and is on the Arras Memorial, Calais, France.
William’s photograph is in Leicester Mercury 26.6.1918
