William was born in 1899 in Leicester and baptised on 5.3.1899 at St. Hild’s Church Leicester. He was the son of William Cooper, a boot riviter, and his second wife Alice Corbett. He was one of three children-

In 1901 census the family were at 30 Osborne St., Leicester and in 1911 census they were at 9 Holland Rd., Leicester.
William became Private 3979 in 114th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment and Died of Wounds on 22.10.1915 aged 17.
He is buried in Welford Rd. cemetery and also has a memorial at St. Mark’s Church.
