William was born in 1893 in Leicester to William Prince and Annie (nee Merrick).
They had 8 children –

There is no record of the father on any census but the couple produced 8 children in 16 years and Annie always listed herself as married.
In 1901 census the family lived at 69 Ash St.
In 1911 census the family were boarding at 21 Mere Rd. but William was with the 3rd Leicestershire Regiment Special Reserve at Glen Parva.
William became Private 9249 1st Battalion Leicestershire Regiment and Died of Wounds on 14.12.1917. He is buried at Rocquigny Equancourt Road British Cemetery, Manancourt, France.
